I finished a few playthroughs of Gal*Gun: Double Peace in order to get my review up this morning when the embargo lifted, so it’s time to dive in to something else. Well, that, or go back to a game I’ve been chipping away at for what seems like an eternity.
Street Fighter V arrived from GameFly today. I was pretty adamant about avoiding the game until the roster was expanded, but EVO 2016 reinvigorated my love of fighting games to a level I haven’t experienced since the Killer Instinct reboot during the Xbox One’s launch. I’m really looking forward to checking out its (supposedly disappointing) story mode.
I uninstalled the King of Fighters XIV demo. I played enough to know that I like it, so there’s no reason for me to continue plugging away until the full release on August 23rd. I’m really impressed by how smooth it plays, but also came to the conclusion that I don’t like the character designs. Everyone looks like they fell out of a cancelled JRPG from the mid-to-late 2000’s, but that’s something I can get over. Either way, the demo served its purpose. I liked it, I want the game, so no reason to keep it on the HD.
I also gave up on the new Metroid Prime: Federation Force demo of its 3-on-3 Rocket League mode, Blast Ball. I’ll spare you the details of my disappointment, since I’ve already gone in depth about it here on the site.
I started playing through the original Legend of Zelda on NES the other day, which tends to be an annual event. It still holds up incredibly well. I have 2 dungeons left before taking on Ganon, so I’m sure I’ll finish that up later on today.
If I’m not absorbed by Street Fighter V this weekend, I may log in to World of Warcraft to check out more of the latest class changes that arrived with the pre-Legion expansion patch. Maybe not, though. I don’t have much incentive to play until Legion goes live next month.
Maybe I’ll go back to Persona 4 Golden for a bit, since I’m holding off on playing another meaty game until it’s out of my backlog. I really want to get back to Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, after all.
Outside of gaming, WWE Battleground is Sunday. As many of you know, I’m a huge wrestling nerd and there was a big brand split storyline that occurred on Tuesday. It’s not very interesting, but I try not to miss any PPV events.
What about you folks? What are you getting in to this weekend?
I completed The Witcher 3 for the third time, but finally got to experience Blood and Wine and it was fantastic.
I’ll most likely only be playing one game this whole weekend and that’s Dark Souls 3. I started moving first dex build character and I’ve been wreaking shit with him. So far my only deaths have come from rolling off of cliffs.

Nice! I’ll probably pick the game back up when the GOTY version comes out with the DLC. I installed DS3 before my mom’s dog had a stroke, and since I’ve been spending most of my time helping take care of it I never got around to playing at all. Mainly why I’ve been doing a lot of Vita/3DS gaming.
Cliff fails are the best fails!

I finished VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action so today I will be playing some Gal*Gun and I Am Setsuna.

Valhalla looks neat. Thinking about grabbing Setsuna, but want to finish Persona 4.

I worked, also dog sitting for my brother all week. But after watching a recent Classic Game Room I found about Senran Kagura on the PS4. I then found out they quietly released the prequels before this on of all things the 3DS family. I stumbled upon one of them at an area Gamestop here, so I had to see if it’s as goofy, and over the top as CGR showed it to be, and it is. Though not quite as risqué If the PS4 game is Skinemax, this one is Maxim. But if you can look past that there’s a fun hack n’ slash game to be found. It kind of reminds me of Onechanbara but without the 70’s grindhouse atmosphere. This is more early 90’s awkward B movie atmosphere. Like Bikini Car Wash Company with Ninjas. There’s no pretense, it knows what it is, it doesn’t try to hide it like a teenager flipping the channel when they hear footsteps coming from the hall. But it looks like there’s a lot they cram into the cartridge too so we’ll see.

I liked the Onechanbara games, especially Z2 Chaos on PS4. That one felt like they actually put effort in to the gameplay, and it was just so damn absurd story-wise.
I have Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus coming for Vita via GameFly, which will be my first experience with the series. I’m not shy around fanservice, and most of these types of games have solid mechanics underneath all of their jiggling boobs and pantyshots.
Highly recommend checking out Gal*Gun: Double Peace (which I reviewed the other day) on PS4 or Vita — PS4 performs better, as expected. Criminal Girls on Vita is another solid game hidden underneath unapologetic fanservice.
