This week we invited our friend and fellow WordPress blogger Omar Jackson from Drakulus.com to discuss each of our 10 favorite games of the current console generation.

If you follow his blog you’ll know that Omar is primarily a PC and 3DS gamer, so naturally we brought him on for the wrong weekly Talking Point. But hey, not only did he make the best of it but turned out to be an awesome guest that will likely be a permanent fixture in our weekly podcast moving forward! It’s a menage a trois of handsomeness now!

If you find it hard to keep track of, my list looked like:

  1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  2. NieR: Automata
  3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  4. Axiom Verge
  5. Final Fantasy XV
  6. Inside
  7. Until Dawn
  8. Doom
  9. Overwatch
  10. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

This was a tough list to come up with, so I devised a set of personal rules to narrow things down a bit. Because why not overcomplicate things, right?

  • Only include games from PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Wii U. Nothing from 3DS and Vita.
  • No remasters.
  • Nothing released on previous generations of hardware. So no Life is Strange, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc.
  • Only include games I’ve either finished entirely or invested considerable time in. So, as much as I loved it, no Bloodborne. This also knocked out Dark Souls III.

I did have a few honorable mentions, namely Rise of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil VII, SOMA, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, and The Last Guardian.

Feel free to toss your top 10 list down in the comment section below. If you have any questions you’d like read and answered on the next recording (every Sunday at noon EST), send those down in the comments as well!
