The Steam Summer Sale is Upon Us! Here’s My Haul.

Steam’s annual Summer Sale kicked off this afternoon, discounting thousands of games across their digital marketplace. This is typically the only time I invest heavily into PC gaming, and this year has been no different.

For the cost of two brand new retail games, I walked away with the following:

  • Team Fortress Classic
  • Half-life
  • Half-life: Source
  • Half-life: Opposing Force
  • Half-life: Blue Shift
  • Half-life 2
  • Half-life 2: Episode One
  • Half-life 2: Episode Two
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
  • The Longest Journey
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Loom
  • The Dig
  • Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
  • HeXen: Beyond Heretic
  • HeXen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel
  • HeXen II
  • Quake
  • Quake II
  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Collection
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Still Life
  • Still Life 2
  • Primordia
  • The Charnel House Trilogy
  • System Shock Classic
  • System Shock Enhanced
  • System Shock 2
  • Technobabylon
  • Resonance
  • Kathy Rain
  • Gemini Rue
  • Void & Meddler: Episode 1
  • Subject 13
  • Blackwell Epiphany
  • The Samaritan Paradox
  • Shardlight
  • Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
  • Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition
  • Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
  • The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind – Game of the Year Edition
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Game of the Year Edition
  • Broken Sword: Director’s Cut
  • Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror Remastered
  • Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon
  • I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
  • Planescape: Torment
  • The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
  • Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge

That’s… a whole lotta game. I sold The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on Nintendo Switch and my gold Mega Man amiibo, which just about covered everything. There are a few more gems I have my eye on, like the Tex Murphy collection, but I think I’m in deep enough.

What about you, folks? Pick anything up yet?

  1. Going to be shopping this evening for sure. I love finding stuff to put in the gift inventory too. The sale allows me to gift more people when the Holidays roll around. Hopefully some of the stuff on my wish list went on super sale. Wooooo!

        1. Nice haul! I’m very curious about the STALKER games. They kept popping up as recommendations based on previous purchases.

Quest for Infamy fucking RULES! I got to review the game at launch — it’s basically a funny/sometimes raunchy take on Quest for Glory. I’ve been thinking about replaying it recently since they released the sequel last year (maybe the year before).

I really enjoyed Tales of Zestiria and picked up Berseria at launch. It’s still shrinkwrapped. Hmph.

If you’re looking for cheap recommendations, A Story About My Uncle is super underrated. I honestly don’t know anyone else that’s played it, but it’s one of my favorite games ever. Year Walk is also pretty incredible if you’re into adventure stuff.

  2. Having a really hard time finding anything interesting believe it or not! I bought Beam:NG and returned it after 20 minutes. Bought ABZU cause it was cheap and have heard good things from the WordPress-osphere. Almost bought FFXIII but then realized I can’t possibly play another FF game this year and/or decade. Hate to be a downer during these happy times but 99% of newer games just don’t do it for me!

Your list is my style though. Proud to say I’ve probably beaten half of them or so and it’s a sick list! Love the classics mixed up in there :D

    1. I mostly enjoyed ABZU for what it was, but found it hard to shake the Journey identity crisis. Definitely worth playing, though.

I’ve always had a shitty outdated PC until 2010, so I’ve been playing catch-up ever since. Some of the ones on the list I played through friends, like Quake, Hexen/Heretic, and others when they launched on consoles, like Half-life on PS2. Many of the RPGs I’ve just been told are incredible and never had the chance to play them. Definitely excited.

  3. That is an impressive haul. I had to go check out some titles myself and now my wishlist is full of stuff to think about. I’ll probably remind myself I have too little time to play anything new anyway but I did find some old games that I can’t play at the moment that I’d love to have a copy of again.

      1. I think I ended up with a few more than expected but most were under $10 and a lot of them were games I played a while back and no longer have so I’m kind of looking forward to a weekend every now and then when I can get back into them.

        1. I’m already back in for my third trip in the store lol. Keep finding games I’ve been interested in for super cheat and I’d probably kick myself for buying them *or* not buying them. Decisions, decisions.

  4. WOW! that list pretty much says ‘FUCK THE BACKLOG!’

Saw you have KOTOR 1 and 2, good stuff! I saw some great deals on ori and the blind forest, and the syberian games. So tempted but i need to keep controlled. Have enough to get through at the moment, and with a Switch now, want to focus more on building and completing that library. I already have things like Thumper on my mind for that.

      1. I wanted shovel Knight but I have it on Wii u. Kind of holding back since I can play it there. Definitely want thumper, your podcast on it and just snippets of the trailer tells me it’s right up my alley

  5. It’s impressive how much entertainment one can buy, for very little money, during a Steam sale. You made a good decision by purchasing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. One of the best point n click games I have ever played.
