Last night I was playing catch-up with my WordPress feed and found a handful of articles I wanted to share with the rest of you. The WordPress gaming community has been incredibly rad and I’m proud to be a part of such a welcoming, altruistic group of individuals who share this common interest of ours.
Chatting with fellow WordPress games bloggers via Twitter or our open-community Discord channel (shout out to Support Class!) has helped overcome writer’s block, kept the creative juices flowing, and, quite simply, provided hours of equally meaningful and absurd conversation.
Hopefully, you not only find the content hidden behind these links enjoyable but maybe you’ll find a few new blogs to follow in the process!
- Virtual Bastion – The Question of “in-progress” Game Reviews
- Beyond the Loading Screen – Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Review
- I Heart Old Games – [Forbidden Games] Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties
- The Well-Red Mage – Asking Big Questions #002 – “Are Video Games Art?”
- Recollections of Play – “Are Video Games Art?”
- Nostalgia Trigger – Metroid: Samus Returns – Old-school Cool!
- Drakulus – Absolver Review
- Mr. Panda’s Video Game Reviews – SteamWorld Dig 2 Review
- Power Bomb Attack – I’m Loving Metroid: Samus Returns
- New Retro Games – World of Horror
- Comma Eight Comma One – The Edge Joystick Review
- The Shameful Narcissist Speaks – The State of the Gamer: 9/19/17
- The Well-Red Mage – FEZ (2012)
- Reviewer Discretion – Destiny 2 – Review
Since I only tend to catch-up on the various WordPress blogs I follow once per week (I’m so very bad about leaving comments), I think I’m going to make it a point to keep signal-boosting some of them on a weekly basis.
I’m always on the lookout for more WordPress gaming blogs to follow, so if your favorite contributor isn’t on the list above feel free to sound off in the comments with a link to a recent post you enjoyed. I’ll definitely check them out and toss them a follow!

First of all, I love this idea! Thanks for sharing so many of the amazing posts by so many wonderful people in this awesome WordPress community! And thank you so much for the shoutout for my SteamWorld Dig 2 review! I know how you feel about catching up and falling behind on posts. God knows I have a glorious ton to catch up on, so I’m thankful for this. :)

Thanks! I always feel like a colossal shithead when I get so engrossed in my own writing and self-promotion and can’t make time to read, comment, and share posts from within the community. We’re all small fish and a big pond, and building the community is incredible important. It’s been great getting to know everyone better, exploring more blogs, etc., and hopefully this will help continue the tradition moving forward.

Don’t feel bad. Life happens, and I’m just thankful for unconditional friendship that goes beyond blogging and gaming. :)

This is such a great idea and I have read some of these, but some of these blogs I hadn’t discovered before now so I look forward to having some time to read some posts of theirs too. This is such a nice way of celebrating the community of bloggers.

Great idea dude and thanks for sharing my Absolver Review :). This is a good way for me to discover new blogs too. I’m also bad at reading up on my fellow bloggers so don’t feel bad dude. Shit happens in life.

You’re welcome! I usually catch up at night before bed when I’m on my tablet, and hate typing with a touch pad. Then I forget about replying the next day. It’s a vicious cycle lol.

I do the same, but with my phone and I suck at texting so and I make a lot of mistakes. I usually end up deleting what I was going to say and forgetting to comment when I’m at my PC. WordPress doesn’t do a very good job at showing me everything in my feed too :(.

The feed reader needs an overhaul, for sure, and the apps are just bad.

I’ve taken some deep dives into Bloodborne’s lore by way for Vaati’s YT videos, so I’ll definitely check these out. Thanks!

I never owned an NES Advantage, but still enjoyed reading that Edge Joystick review.

One of my two NES controllers broke so all of my player 2’s had to use the NES Advantage someone gave me as a present. I hated that thing for platformers, but it was solid for arcade games and shmups.

Hey man thanks for the link to my post! Don’t feel bad about only checking so often. Just the the other day, I only just caught up with posts from here. I was a good 2 weeks, if not more behind on things. There was some great stuff I missed, but life just gets in the way and I can’t always be up to date on what my wordpress reader is showing me.
I wish wordpress had a better way of identifying what you haven’t read and checking it later. There’s always tons of great stuff coming out here and I do feel bad coming late in the game and leaving a like or comment once I’ve read something.
This is a great idea though, always looking for more blogs to follow and check out on the regular. thanks!!

Yeah, it seems to be almost unanimous that WP needs to improve their reader and apps.
Enjoy the links!

That’s a great idea! I always think about a way to have a good selection of news to read during the weekend without reading all the blogs I follow!
P.S. thanks for the mention!

This is an excellent list! I’ve discovered a few new blogs through your post. I’m so far behind in WP these days it isn’t even funny. I’m swamped with work and obsessed with Harvest Moon 64, so it has been hard to make time for other things!

Aw, what a nice idea! :D I love the wonderful WordPress community!
For recommendations: Athena, the WordPress Goddess of Wisdom and operator of AmbiGaming, started a monthly article where she creates adult beverages based on video game characters. Her first one set me off on a super fantastic galactic journey last night, haha – https://ambigamingcorner.com/2017/09/22/sns-good-doctor

Sending a belated thank you both from myself and on behalf of everyone at Virtual Bastion! This great community of game bloggers never ceases to be amazing, and we’re glad to be a part of it. And looking at this list, it seems I have some catching up to do. :) Thanks again!

I think the only meaningful conversations ARE absurd. This is a great idea and definitely why I always try to remember to note down who gives me recommendations or where I get them from. Now I need to check out the bloggers I don’t follow yet 😆
