It’s the Freakin’ Weekend! Friday the 13th Edition!

Friday (the 13th)! Video games! Let’s talk!

I’m still mostly playing World of Warcraft, trying to get Legion flying unlocked. I hit level 110 (the current max) on my Blood Elf Warlock, finished off the Suramar campaign yesterday, and still have a ways to go before I can take flight in the Legion zones.

There’s a meta-achievement that needs to be completed before that happens and it’s quite the time sink.

  • Be level 110 (check)
  • Uncover the entire map by fully exploring all 5 Legion zones (check)
  • Complete 100 “world quests” (currently 63 of 100)
  • Earn the Loremaster of Suramar achievement by finishing the campaign (check)
  • Complete one character’s Class Hall campaign (nearing the end, but I need to finish the Vault of the Wardens dungeon)
  • Reach “revered” reputation with Court of Farondis, Highmountain Tribe, Nightfallen, Dreamweavers, The Valarjar, and The Wardens (In order, I’m Honored, Friendly, Honored, Honored, Honored, and Friendly, so not too far off — this will be the most time consuming portion)

Otherwise, my only goals before Battle for Azeroth launches in mid-August is to hit 110 on my Horde Rogue and Druid and max out their gathering professions. I’m not too concerned with crafting professions since money allows me to buy whatever I want anyway, so as long as I have an enchanter (to dismantle gear and sell materials), skinner, herbalist, and miner at 800 I’ll be fine and dandy. My Rogue is currently 102 and my Druid is 100.

Sounds boring, I know, but late-expansion catch-up is a big part of any MMO. Fingers crossed I’ll have flying unlocked by next weekend.

I’m not sure how much I’ll get to play this weekend, though. My uncle is in town and he’s helping my family and I organize my dad’s stuff and try and get some of it out of here with a yard sale this weekend. Needless to say, I’ll be pretty damn busy.

What about you, folks? Have any plans this weekend?

  1. I’m still regularly playing Dead by Daylight with my crew, and actually recently joined a streaming community so hopefully I’ll be starting up streaming at least once a week again. Super stoked about joining them, I even have merch already. I’ve been bouncing between Ace and Feng to farm since I just hit Prestige 3 on Meg, and Prestige 2 on Jake.

Overwatch’s Retribution will be on my list too. I’ve done all four characters on normal and consistently get top kills, so I’m gonna start creeping into higher difficulties and see how I do.

But my time consumer will be- don’t laugh- Pokemon GO. I got back into it in Chicago and I’m 5/8 on the new Research quests and just hit level 25. I want to unlock the Gym Leader outfit and I’m trying to max out as many Kanto Pokémon as I can during the Kanto event. I’ll be doing the Ampharos event on Sunday too. Find a park and go for a walk or something.

    1. I’ve always wanted to give Pokemon GO a shot, but I don’t pay for a data plan on my cellphone since we live in the middle of nowhere and don’t get any coverage. So unless I’m connected to a wifi hotspot (again, middle of nowhere) there’s no PGO for me.

Retribution is the same as last year’s Uprising, right?

      1. Yeah Pokemon GO is kind of hard without data. My roommates/landlords let their daughter do it on a tablet but they had it on their cell’s hot spot. It’s been a really good stress reliever though.

Uprising is back, but Retribution is a new mode and has an actual animated CGI cutscene opening it. The gameplay is really fun too, definitely one of their best events so far.

    1. Celeste is fantastic, so hopefully you’re enjoying it. Wasn’t too keen on FCP, myself. How are you taking it?

I’ve been with WoW since the beginning but I definitely have an on again, off again relationship right now. I skipped most of the current expansion because of school and other personal things, but I still really love it.

  2. Hoping to finish out XCOM but I have no idea how far in or how far from the end I am. Since I caved and pre-ordered God of War I feel like I need to get XCOM out of my way. Chances are I won’t actually finish it since I’m on-call and that will likely destroy any chance of gaming but I can dare to dream.

  3. I’m getting really into Thimbleweed Park! Currently in the third part of the game where you have the map so it’s MUCH easier to move around. I have some critiques of it that I’ll talk about when I finish and review it, but I love the dialogue. They did such a great job with that. Also, I’m very curious about what ulterior motives the two agents have. I just read something that makes me very curious about one of them.

I might try to pick FFV up again this weekend, too. I’ve been stalling on it because at this timed part, and I HATE timed parts, but I wrote out instructions for what I have to do so fingers crossed.

    1. I liked how Thimbleweed included an in-game hint line that you can call with the agent’s phone if you get stuck. It was very clever. Some of the puzzles were a bit *too* video gamey to figure out on my own, haha.

I’ve been so busy this week that I forgot to put up a new Freakin Weekend post. Oops.

      1. That hint line is so useful. I’m not ashamed to say I’e used it quite a few times. I’m currently on the fifth part (I forget what it’s called), but everyone is trying to get into the Pillow Factory. The parts with Franklin make me tear up ;_;

I thought something was weird! You were talking about Friday the 13th, but it looked like it was posted on 4/20. Ah well, you’re in the midst of moving. I’ve missed a few posts myself. It happens. The moon hasn’t fallen yet. Link is good at looking out for that :p
