Friday! Video games! Let’s talk!
I was ambushed by an awful headache earlier today and it’s showing no signs of letting up. Hopefully it fucks off soon, though, so I can get some gaming in.
I managed to finish up both Dragon Star Varnir and AI: The Somnium Files earlier in the week and they were both *really* good. Reviews for both should show up here sometime between now and Monday. The Somnium Files has a few different routes to play through as well, so I know I’ll be revisiting it while juggling other review projects.
Speaking of which — next on my list is…
The House in Fata Morgana: Dreams of the Revenants Edition (PS4)
This hauntingly beautiful visual novel came highly recommended by one of my favorite Twitter friends and I can’t wait to see what it’s all about. Fata Morgana literally means “mirage,” and from what I’ve gathered so far, it takes place in a… time traveling mansion? I’m not sure. What I *do* know is that it’s super dark, the artwork is gorgeous, and the soundtrack has been absolute ear-sex for the last two hours.
This version comes with all of the side stories and the prequel that released on PC over the years and it’s estimated to take around 30+ hours to see everything. I want to get this review up by the end of the month since it’s thematically appropriate for October, but I won’t be rushing anything. I want to savor it.
I usually prefer my visual novels on Vita and Fata Morgana is (thankfully) cross-buy for both versions. I already started on PS4, but I may end up starting over on Vita purely based on platform preference.
What about you, folks? What’s on your gaming agenda this weekend?
Man, I really want to play this, too, but I have such a backlog. It looks amazing, though!
This weekend is probably going to be working on finishing Atelier Lulua since Ryza comes out in a week and a half. I’ve been tearing through a lot of smaller horror games for October, though, so I might stumble on one or two more of those if I don’t continue Call of Cthulhu or start-up The Evil Within.

Evil Within is super interesting. The story is dope but the game itself goes from mind-fuck horror to bad action game by the end. Still worth playing and the sequel is amazing.

I just finished up Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair which I really liked despite not caring much for the original game. I just started Concrete Genie and also downloaded Return of the Obra Dinn, so will be playing them both when I get a chance this weekend.

I didn’t care for the original game at all and actually got an unsolicited review key for Impossible Lair on Xbox One that I passed on for that reason. Guess I should have kept it lol.
Obra Dinn is high on my Switch wish list, for sure. I love adventures and mysteries, so it seems like it’d be my jam.
Thoughts on Concrete Genie?
