First off, thanks for stopping by my little slice of the internet! I’m a teeny, tiny fish in a huge pond, and I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.
My name is Trash (not literally, of course), and I’m a full-time journalism student from Baltimore, MD that currently resides in the middle of nowhere. I gave up the big city life and its delicious internet speed to help my mom take care of my dad, who was terminally ill before passing away in May of 2016.
If you’re looking for a place to start, here’s the list of my 10 favorite games of all time. That should give you a taste of my gaming background if you’ve not been following along over the years (CBA has been around since 2011!).
So why do I write?
I’ve been obsessed with the idea of writing about games since I was a kid, and that’s still my dream today. I’d thumb through monthly issues of Nintendo Power like they were the Bible, hoping someday I’d be the one writing the articles and reviews. The joke’s on me, I guess, as Nintendo Power has since gone under and modern games media now follows a more verbal, visual approach, instead of the written format.
Outside of self-running this here website, I’m an irregular co-host for the weekly CA! Radio podcast, The Unlikely Herocast, and contribute additional game reviews over at The Well-Red Mage as the Middle-age Horror Mage. I’ve been freelancing reviews since 2013!
Over the years, I’ve conducted numerous interviews with different game developers, constructed how-to guides for the likes of World of Warcraft, Neverwinter, Skyrim, and Dragon’s Dogma, and have a weekly social discussion where my readers and I discuss our weekend gaming plans. I’ve managed the social media accounts, along with handling most of the PR workload, for the now-defunct Xbox-centric website What’s Your Tag? (RIP in peace), and continue to handle all of my own public relations.
On a more personal note, I’m a horror film and pro-wrestling aficionado, a cat person (I have two), a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan, and I love listening to music (typically metal-ish stuff, industrial, 90’s alternative, and game soundtracks). I’m a casual comic reader, though mostly DC and some non-superhero Image stuff like Saga, Paper Girls, Low, and Outcast.
I always pick the grass starter in Pokemon, but my favorite Pokemon is Psyduck. I have two Nintendo-themed tattoos and numerous facial piercings. My favorite game series is Final Fantasy, with my favorites being XV and VIII. I think Silent Hill 2 is the perfect horror game. I also love the PlayStation Vita and its plethora of quirky Japanese games.
I suffer from a fun cocktail of bullshit like depression, anxiety, IBS-A, and insomnia, and couldn’t tell you the last time I had a good night of sleep. Fun level: MAXIMUM!
I’m not much of a PC gamer, having been a sewer-dwelling console heathen for most of my life. I don’t prefer one brand of console over another, growing up in the NES, SNES, and Genesis generation, living on PlayStation through my teens, onto Xbox 360 and I’m now fortunate enough to own and game on just about anything — yes, even Ouya.
I’m more into single-player, story-driven experiences, like RPGs, adventure/VN games, and horror stuff, though I love a good co-op experience. To quote one of my favorite YouTubers, Christopher Odd, “The Story Matters Most. If one doesn’t exist, we make it up.”
I’m fairly active on Twitter, so feel free to follow my personal account @Trashlevania This is the absolute best way to get in touch with me for any reason.
Again, thanks for checking out Cheap Boss Attack. I pour my heart and soul into my work here and I hope you’ll find something you enjoy during your stay.
